Browser and OS versioning is here

Clicky will now break down the various families of web browsers and OS' into seperate versions. We've added support for a number of new platforms, including mobile and video game consoles. On the dedicated browser/OS pages, everything is grouped together as shown below. On the dashboard, there is no grouping, items are only sorted by popularity. I think there will probably be a preference to change this for both areas of the stats, but for now it works well.

This has been in high demand so we hope you like it. :)

and now for my real comment: very cool! I really hope no one is using IE6 on our site because it doesn't look that good in it, will find out now though.

Probably worth noting that the breakdown is only applicable to new data that is collected since the feature was implemented.

If you do a historical view you will see the browser type, such as Internet Explorer, aggregated without a version #. If you have mixed current and historical, you will see two entries for Internet Explorer followed by entries with specified version numbers.

Thank you guys so much for this! This was number one on my wish list. The only thing that makes me sad is 30% of my users are viewing my site with IE6 :(

Incredible feature Sean!

I admit it! Until last week, I was holding out with IE6 on my primary computer and running IE7 in a VMware image when doing testing. I agree with Wes that knowing browser version will help me determine the best website navigation based on visitors.

Frank that is correct, this only applies going forward. If we were tracking this information before, we would have been showing it!

Clicky's only got 10% IE6 :D

Sean, a few things:
First, glad to see this feature finally added!
Second, the blog posting didn't show up on the /user/ home page under the recent posts from the Clicky Blog
Finally, for some reason your comment signature on this post didn't show up in red as it normally does.

I don't know whether I like or hate this update.

I like it because I can see the browser versions, obviously. I hate it because it shows me that a disgustingly-large amount of my IE users still use 6.0. I cry...

Always worries me this sort of comment. Does this mean the site 'didn't' work before IE7 came out? In any case, the rule is as always design for FF/Opera and test in IE.

This is a really great feature - been waiting for this for a while.

(getting 42% FF users on one site - nearly enough to topple IE)
