Quick question on Bounceback... I've got a client who has had 3 visitors since the update. The bounceback is 100%. It shows that all 3 stayed for 5s. Ok. Cool. My question is that total time spent is 6min 21s or 2min 7s for each visit. ???? Shouldn't the total be 15s / Avg. 5s ? Help me if I'm misunderstanding what the total time & avg. time should be. Site ID = 18458

Hmm, just took me a while to find the new preferences area. It didn't really 'click' that the cog icon was meant to mean settings. Might be good to just add 'Settings' or something next to it. :)

Honestly, your hard work is very impressive and I'm very thankful. I may have a small (very small) amount of useage but it's very refreshing to be a part of something that you obviously take the time to show your best and pride in.

For B2B company like us, it's bad, really BAD.

Although usage (browsing/downloads) appears on spy - it doesnt seem to record everything on the dashboard and actions. There are at least 5 users with many clicks that their actions are not recorded and they don't show up as visitors.

I need to mention that clicks/visitors that came to the site later they do appear.
Is this because of the db still updating or is it a bug?

Sagatel, I didn't mean to remove that, I temporarily removed it to make place for the "name this visitor" link and forgot to add it back in so I will get that done soon.

ML - There are still some bugs floating around but it will all be straightened out soon. db1 is also not caught up with real time yet so some numbres may not seem right.

Have there been any thoughts about spliting up the sites in db1 so that maintenance is not so difficult? Most businesses would try to serve there longest-term customers the best, but having all of these customers on a monster DB makes doing so difficult.

Apporama, absolutely! But it's not nearly as easy as it sounds! I completely agree that older customers getting the shaft relative to newer ones is just awful, but it's reality when they have 10x as much data. BTW, there aren't actually 15,000 active sites on that server, there's only (only?) 8,000.

HOWEVER! After analyzing everything that went on this weekend (good and bad), I have come up with a much better way to do this in the future. The way I did it this weekend, I was copying the old data into new tables (because that's really the only way to change a huge mysql table without 1+ TB of RAM, unless you have ten years to wait around), but the old tables had been moved out of the live copy so it couldn't remain live. That was stupid of me and I'm disappointed with myself for never realizing the (now obvious) way of keeping the site live the entire time. This of course makes the transform a much longer process, because it can't hog 100% of CPU and HD, but because it's transparent, that's obviously 5 billion times better to all of you. There would still have to be probably a couple hours downtime at the end while I upload the new code and do a bunch of testing, but a few hours on the weekend is no biggie. db1 users experienced about 36 hours of downtime though - damn.

Luckily for everyone, I don't anticipate as big a change as the one that happened this weekend, ever happening again, so hopefully this won't be much of a concern. Part of what took so long for this release was me fixing (almost) everything that I hated about my database design. That took a lot of planning and changes to the code, just to support the new format, before even adding any new features. I can't even come close to expressing what a relief it is to be done.

There's something wrong with my stats, though, and I'm not sure if or how it would be related to the recent update.

Right now, I have sixteen visitors, 29 actions shown on my dashboard for today (Tuesday 22nd), but when I check the "Actions" tab or the "Spy" tab, those visits are not shown. On those tabs, there's only 4 visitors with 1 action each. Which one is correct (site id 1516, also seems to affect site id 2198)?

I'm also seeing quite large discrepancies between visitors showing on the dashboard for today and the ones in the visitors tab a cross my sites. (for example site_id=12457)

I think there must be a bug with the script that is processing the 36 hour backlog from database downtime over the weekend. I have halted that script for the time being while I look into it.

OMG, where the IP Addresses from the visitors' tab have gone? They've been replaced with some inconsistent and useless information about Telcos... :(

You seriously think that a list of IP addresses is more useful than the organization or ISP of the visitor? Please explain. I obviously completely disagree.

We're still tracking IPs. You can get an individual visitor's IP by clicking the actions link next to them.

Replacing IPs with proper names is the way to go, no question about it - already I've been able to see who in a given organization must be checking our site and call them up to offer further information.

Once they get over the initial paranoia, it's marvelous.

Did it give you the "this server is offline for maintenance" message? Did it start working again after a few minutes or anything?

I had the same problem yesterday. I'm not sure how long it was offline, but I was a little annoyed ...

By the way, the "Clicky quicky" module for netvibes still does not show the new average time. It does not show average time at all now, which is a pity.
